Install the FireCursor extension in Cursor
The desktop half of FireCursor is a Cursor extension distributed as a VSIX. Cursor can install that package directly from its Extensions view without a marketplace listing.

Download the VSIX
Use the Cursor extension download on firecursor.com or the current releases page. The site serves the protected release artifact and publishes its checksum.

Open Cursor Extensions
Open the Extensions view, use its overflow menu, and choose ‘Install from VSIX…’. Select the downloaded FireCursor.vsix file.

Reload Cursor
Accept Cursor’s reload request if one appears. Then open the Command Palette and search for ‘FireCursor: Start Remote Control.’

Start only when ready to pair
Launching remote control creates a temporary internet path and pairing secret. Keep the pairing display private and stop the session when you finish.
Why a VSIX instead of a marketplace button
A VSIX is the standard installable package format for compatible editor extensions. Direct distribution lets the current preview ship as one versioned artifact while its marketplace path remains a separate release gate.
The tradeoff is an extra install step, so FireCursor makes the current file, version, size, and checksum visible from one release page.
