Practical help for the FireCursor Android preview and Cursor extension.
Updated July 23, 2026
Requirements
- Android 8 or newer.
- Cursor desktop with an authenticated cursor-agent CLI.
- A computer that remains awake and online while remote control is active.
- Install-from-unknown-apps permission for the direct preview APK.
Install and pair
- Install the Cursor extension from the downloaded .vsix.
- In Cursor's Extensions view, open More Actions, choose Install from VSIX, and select firecursor.vsix.
- Run FireCursor: Start Remote Control in Cursor.
- Install and open the Android preview APK.
- Enter your email in FireCursor and tap the secure sign-in link on the same phone. A referral code is optional and can be attached only when a new account is created.
- When Android asks, allow direct app installs only for the browser used to download the APK, then return to the download and tap Install.
- Scan the private QR code and keep it out of screenshots or shared logs.
Reconnect behavior
FireCursor stores the pairing token and both tunnel and same-network endpoints. When the phone can reach the computer over LAN, it can learn a refreshed tunnel endpoint automatically. If the tunnel rotates while the phone is remote and the LAN path is unavailable, pairing again may still be required.
Before contacting support
- Confirm cursor-agent is installed and authenticated.
- Restart remote control in Cursor and check the connection status.
- Verify the computer is online and not asleep.
- Include Android and extension versions plus a redacted error message.
- Never send a pairing token, QR code, API key, credential, or private source file.
